Performance Center Logistics and IT

The Performance Center Logistics and IT aims to establish logistics as the central science of the industrial future and to strengthen logistics research at the interface between logistics and IT. The researchers are developing a comprehensive roadmap with strategic topics that will serve logistics research as a plan of action for the next few years and will form the base for new research programs in logistics and information logistics, the systematic combination of logistics and information technology. In particular, the state of research in logistics at the scientific location of Dortmund is reflected. The Performance Center bundles and interlinks the activities of the universities, institutes, initiatives and projects located there.

Nine interdisciplinary research groups ("research clans") are currently assigned to four strategic topic clusters ("perspectives"). The topics include

  • Human-Technology Interaction
  • Cognitive Ergonomics
  • Multi Agent Systems
  • Digital Processes
  • Virtual and simulative models for profitability and maturity evaluation of autonomous systems
  • Optimization and simulation of logistic networks
  • Advanced Data Processing Technologies
  • Digital business Engineering
  • Data Network Engineering

Pilot projects for innovative concepts and prototypes, such as the »Boehringer Ingelheim Lab«, a cooperation between the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Technology ISST and the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim in the field of »Data-Driven Life Science Business«, are also integrated into the Performance Center.
